Matt has a general civil litigation practice with a focus in products/premises liability, contract disputes, labor and employment law, and insurance coverage.
Matt has experience defending personal injury and wrongful death cases, including:
- defending clients who manufacture or sell consumer goods, equipment and other products which have been alleged to be defective and caused injury;
- defending retailers and other property owners in premises liability cases brought by patrons involving slips and falls and other injuries; and
- representing numerous clients in toxic tort lawsuits, such as asbestos.
In other commercial contexts, his work includes:
- assisting clients with a wide range of contract disputes;
- representing clients in the foreclosure of mortgage loans secured by real estate; and
- pursuing collection of unpaid accounts.
In the labor and employment area, Matt has counseled and represented employers in discrimination cases, contract disputes, and other workplace matters.
Matt also has experience with a variety of insurance coverage issues, representing both insureds and insurers in environmental pollution cases and other coverage disputes. Matt co-authored an article published by the Defense Trial Counsel of Indiana in the Indiana Lawyer, "Who's on Deck and What's on First - Potential Issues for Excess Insurers in Long Term Environmental Contamination Cases," examining coverage allocation issues for umbrella or excess insurance carriers.
